More than 150 businesses, including home-based businesses, operate in the City of Dawsonville. Maintaining a healthy business environment is a high priority for the City of Dawsonville. We recognize a healthy business sector provides the resources necessary to sustain jobs and services for our citizens. Business retention and expansion programs are currently being developed to improve the City’s revenue base, create jobs for residents and provide for the overall well-being of our business community.
 
Established in 1859, the City of Dawsonville is a unique blend of small-town values with many opportunities. Dawsonville appreciates the past is excited about the future. Dawsonville welcomes economic development that complements the City’s exceptional quality of life. Situated in the middle of Georgia Highway 53 and Highway 9 and convenient to Interstate 400 and the Atlanta Metropolitan area, the City offers industrial, commercial and retail zoning in close proximity to family oriented residential areas.

The economic development efforts of the City include business retention and expansion, strategic planning, marketing/attraction, economic development finance, workforce development, entrepreneurial and small business development strategies, real estate development and reuse, as well as encouraging tourism. With the task of building relationships with the city’s business owners and commercial real estate brokers to ensure the city creates a climate for economic success as prescribed in the Carl Vinson Institutes Streetscape Design.
