Planning Commission

The Planning Commission for the City of Dawsonville was formed on April 26, 2004 by the Mayor and City Council.

The Planning Commission of Dawsonville recommends for adoption by the governing body zoning regulations and official zoning map, development regulations and other such land use regulations; recommends for adoption by the governing body amendments to any of the land use regulations; and to review and make recommendations concerning applications for zoning map amendments, site plans, conditional use approvals, variances, annexation or other such applications.

The Historic Preservation Commission shall consist of the Planning Commission for the city and shall be authorized to: recommend to the City Council specific buildings, structures, objects, sites or districts to be designated as local historic properties or local historic districts and consider applications for certificates of appropriateness and after review, approve or deny.

Meeting Schedule

The Dawsonville Planning Commission meets the third Monday of each month (unless otherwise advertised) at 5:00 pm upstairs in the G.L. “Pete” Gilleland Council Chambers at City Hall located at 415 Highway 53 East, Suite 100 Dawsonville, Georgia.  The public is invited to attend.

Planning Commission appointments are approved by the City Council after recommendations from the Mayor, City Council, and other community residents.

Planning Commission members serve staggered three year terms and shall serve until their successors are appointed:
